Who doesn’t love Halloween? As any fan of National Adult Dress Up Day can tell you, it’s all about the decorations and costumes. For many, the same goes for cocktails. The whole point is to create an atmosphere that evokes the macabre and reminds guests why they’re still afraid of the dark.
SIMPLY BETTER COCKTAILS
Don’t forget the atmospheric cocktails: Stirrings Black Apple martinis and Dirty Mary martinis. Get creepy with the garnishes. Halloween cocktails should definitely be tasty, but never tasteful. SIMPLY BETTER FOOD
New Orleans Deviled Crab Cakes and Scary Sweet Potato Eyes are simply delicious and make for sophisticated but fun Halloween fare. See some fun and creepy menu ideas below.
SIMPLY BETTER TIMES
First, pick a color scheme. And feel free to expand your palette beyond orange and black to ghostly white or even blood red. Create spooky shadows on the walls by using flashlights and strange objects from around the house. You’ll be amazed how eerie and chill-inducing an ordinary houseplant can be when illuminated by a flashlight.
Halloween parties are usually big, so a buffet-style table works best. Decorate the table with skeleton bones and black candelabras. Fill specimen bottles with bloody rags (old t-shirts with food coloring) and lots of gummy worms.
Tie napkins in the shape of a bone by tying knots at each end (so simple and so effective). Then take a bunch of those spider webs and use them to cover absolutely everything. Except maybe your date!
