This holiday season, give the most memorable gift of all: A festive, glamorous holiday party.
Just as important as what you are serving is what your table looks like. Your centerpiece – without a doubt – is the most important, since it is the focal point of your table, and your guests will totally appreciate that you put some thought into it.
Here are a couple of easy ideas for centerpieces; fill square vases with cranberries, toss a few white roses in and some winter berries and you’ve got the perfect centerpiece or, if you don’t want to spend too much on flowers, just pile disco balls in a bowl for a very fun and cool centerpiece. If it’s a Christmas party then you can use Christmas ornaments as an alternative. The most important thing to remember is that you want to express who you are – so be creative! Always remember, your décor should be a physical manifestation of you. Make
it personal by taking the time to make place cards for a dinner - this makes your guests feel special. You can use framed tree ornaments as place cards and they can also serve as favors for your guests. Another great idea that can serve as both a favor and a place card is to wrap a small box filled with nuts or candy then write each guests name on the tag and set them atop each place setting.
Setting a glam table is the best way to deliver pop and pizzazz to your party. Simply place white plates on gold or silver chargers for instant luxe, and candles are key when setting the mood. This mod-Goth candelabra says fun, not fussy – chic not cheap. Remember you don’t always have to go with a predictable & traditional red and green theme for the holidays. Now-a-days anything goes so don’t be afraid to opt for a sleek red, white and silver palette or even a pink, green & silver collection. Ideas like these are as modern as they are seasonally merry. Also, you can incorporate touches of high shine silver or red with a glossy lacquered tray or bowl to put classy touches on the table.
Lastly, you can finish with seasonal touches like these snow-flake curios, the wire legs can be wrapped
around napkins or votives. You can also tuck them into tins filled with candy to create table ornaments and these too can serve as another fun favor option. One of my favorite favors is hot cocoa-a-go-go; to make this favor just layer and wrap hot chocolate, marshmallows and chocolate sprinkles in a cellophane bag, and finish them up by tying the bag with a beautiful red ribbon and whimsical holiday tag.
Setting up the bar is not only key but the focal point of fun, so make it readily accessible by using a long narrow table, such as a console or dining room table (be sure and remove the chairs - access to the drinks are key). Cluster different shades of red roses in silver boxes or wrap square vases in wrapping paper and fill with colorful floral arrangements. Scatter colored votives throughout the party and try using a few spiced or pine scented candles in the bathroom and kitchen.
Good friends and good cheer, it’s that time of the year! Let’s toast, let’s cheer, let’s enjoy the rest of the Year! Happy Holidays!
